Byron Bay, Beautifully

I love Byron Bay, it's such a beautiful escape from the city, where life flows along at a much slower pace.

Although I have to admit, it takes a day or so to take the "Sydney" out of the girl! I found myself getting frustrated at how loooong it takes to make a coffee sometimes, but I have to remind myself- I'm actually not even in a rush!

I spend a lot of time in Byron, visiting my parents beautiful home at a Bangalow. I spent Easter with my gorgeous new little niece and exploring, shopping, eating local yummy food and doing some yoga.

I want to share some of my little Byron secrets with you...

Mum's Bangalow country kitchen.

Hanging out with Isla, a city girl who loves a country escape too.

Peppermint tea and peace and quiet in Mum's garden.

Yoga
My auntie (a local yogi) has tried out a lot of studios in the area and says "Yoga Peace" at Mullumbimbi is the best.

The room is cozy and the instructors focus on the mind and spirit as much as the poses, which is just how yoga should be.

I was looking for a class to go to on Good Friday, so there wasn't a lot open, but I'm really glad I tried a class at the Byron Yoga Centre.

I had a great teacher who gave little massages and adjustments along the way. Love that.

Shopping
I love visiting the gorgeous "Hope & May" store on Fletcher street. It has such an earthy serene feel.

The lovely owner, Melinda Macguire, fills her shop with beautiful boho clothing, accessories and homewares.

If you want to take a bit of your Byron holiday "peace" home with you, you'll find it here.

Lazy lunch
Lilianas cafe is right near my parents place (and Simon Barkers "country home"!) it's a family favourite, up the hills from Byron at Possum Creek.

The cafe is in converted old school building and is the perfect spot for a long lazy lunch.

It's becoming very popular, so make sure you book if you're going with a group or at peak holiday time.

Coffee
Top shop on Carlyle street is a bit of a cult coffee spot. Great coffee, delicious fresh salads and wholesome breakfasts.

They run out of spots to sit pretty quickly so in Byron Bay style, take a rug and sit in the sunny, grassy hill out the front.

I'm told this is a favourite salad spot for Elle Macpherson, so if it's good enough for "The Body" it's good enough for me!

Walk
It's an oldie, but a goodie- the walk from the Byron foreshore all the way up to the lighthouse. Wear your running shoes, because parts of the track are pretty bumpy.

There are lots of spots to stop and admire the view and take pics along the way. It's about an hour round trip.

I like to listen to podcasts or audio books when I take long walks like this on my own. I download books at home and store them in my phone for my next long solo walk.

Stopping to take in the view on the walk to the lighthouse.

I hope enjoy your zen time.
